12 Tips to Increase Your YouTube Views

How to Get Organic Views on You Tube, Top 12 tips to grow you tube channel
YouTube Views

We've put together this guide to identify all the winning features that will enhance your brand's message on YouTube, but we will also discuss some of the advanced strategies used by the pros.

12 ways to get more views on YouTube

1. Make sure your YouTube foundations are cracking

First we go, then we run. Check your bases and make sure you hit all the boxes. Read our list of YouTube tips, and come back to dig out our advanced strategies.

Your basic housekeeping on YouTube includes considerations such as:

Fixed visual identity (your channel icon, YouTube channel art, etc.)

A Completed and Educational Part About the Stage (unless you're a YouTube star who breaks up as Joana Ceddia)

Timely contact details (so that all your potential customers and future product partners can get in touch)

2. Zero for your specific niche (and your ideal audience)

Trust us, it's about some tricks that can be made, but successful YouTubers don't skip this step, however it may sound.

If you intend to optimize your YouTube marketing strategy, you want to be careful and fair about your goals — and the content that will get you there.

Because you don't make videos for everyone. You're here for someone special: your audience.

A quick example: YouTuber White Winter Whispers has been making ASMR videos for a few years. You have a lot of standard ASMR videos: crumple sounds, brushing noises, a few whispered songs, and cetera. All of those videos spread across 60-70,000 views, surprisingly enough, in great numbers. But he got his two million watch video with… Finnish-language twists.

The lesson for us? The power of your YouTube product is a strength that is unique to your title or industry. Specification is key here.

Pro Tip: Have you done the work for your audience? It's kind of like a Dungeons & Dragons character, except it makes it worse.

3. Do your own research, and improve the search quality of your video

Yes, YouTube is a social network, but it is also a search engine. And all else being equal, one of the best strategies for getting more YouTube views is making your videos searchable.

In other words, when your relevant viewers type in the keywords you are looking for, you want the position of your video near the top of the YouTube results list. That means you need to know what your audience wants - instructional, inspirational, or entertaining.

Counting on search results is a great way to get a fresh eye - not just subscribers and people who are already interested in your channel (though we'll talk more about them later) - to your videos.

However, this is easier said than done. So what can you do to improve your video search rate on YouTube?

Research. You will want to use a tool like Google Keyword Planner (note that you will need to set up a Google Ads account) to do two things:

Find inspiration for your next video based on what people are looking for (e.g., look for search patterns and see which keywords have more search queries, but fewer videos, e.g. less competition)

Take the right words and use them in your metadata (e.g., your video title, tags, caption, subtitles)

Tip Pro: If you haven't already, now is the time to get used to the YouTube algorithm. This AI does not just determine search results, but recommendations for what is "next",. (See # 4, below.) Just remember that it all comes back to your right viewer: the algorithm doesn't care if your video is "good," it cares if a specific user wants to watch it. That being said, users often want to watch "good" videos.

4. Use metadata to get compliments after a popular video

If your goal is to urge more YouTube views, take a cue from the foremost popular videos in your niche.
Start by taking a glance at your top competitor’s hottest video. (Go to their video library and type by “most popular.”)

YouTube’s main goal is to keep viewers on the platform for as long as possible (so that they’ll see as many ads as possible.) Thus the algorithm’s job is to feed viewers one incredible video after another.

Of course, ‘incredible’ is in the eye of the beholder. A better word might be ‘relevant’ or ‘interesting.’

For example, this popular science video on ultra-black material has just over 2.4M views. The YouTube algorithm’s “up next” video is from the same channel, but it’s about, um… ‘80s home decor, I think? Below that is an ad. And below that's where the algorithm gets interesting.

How does YouTube figure that a person interested in, say, the purest expressions of the color of despair, might be interested in “horrifyingly mysterious” lakes? Or vertiginous oceanic depths?

Well. YouTube has stated that the algorithm recommends:

Videos from the same channel

Videos that tons of individuals like, supported engagement, watch time, and views

Videos that a selected person might like, supported their viewing history

Videos with related or similar metadata (i.e., titles, tags and descriptions)

The only point you'll control here is that fourth one.

But before you go ahead and just copy-and-paste a more popular video’s metadata over to your copycat video (as some YouTube gurus recommend, though we won’t name names), please take a moment and think about your audience.

They aren’t getting to want to observe an equivalent video again. Maybe the first video raised a new question that needs answering, or there’s an interesting tangent to be explored. How can your video add value to what they only saw in order that they’ll want to click on it?

Take the ball and run with it.

Pro Tip: Unlike other video metadata like titles and descriptions, YouTube video keywords aren’t listed visibly. In order to ascertain them, right click on the webpage and choose “View Page Source.” Then CTRL-F “keywords” until you discover the list:

And Another Pro Tip: When you’re choosing keywords, think sort of a librarian. Describe your video’s topic and describe its overall category, and consider other words an individual might use to look for that topic.

For example, the tongue-twister video from #2,  #bharat_kolhewad might have the following keywords:

Topic: Finnish tongue twisters

Category: ASMR, foreign languages

Synonyms: unintelligible ASMR, difficult languages, soothing ASMR, Finnish ASMR, Suomi ASMR

5. Increase your views with custom thumbnails

When your potential viewers are in discovery mode—skimming through search results and recommendations—thumbnails are a serious a part of how they decide what to observe .

Unfortunately, tons of recommendation out there's a graphic designer’s nightmare: screaming fonts, cluttered information. Even the self-appointed experts are a touch , um, loud:

But we aren’t here to police people’s abuse of neon green. So, objectively speaking, what are the properties of an efficient thumbnail?

The thumbnail is obvious and accurate about the video it’s describing (if your thumbnail misleads people into clicking, YouTube will know because your watch time will go down when the viewer gets annoyed and stops watching. The algorithm won’t like that.)

The thumbnail stands out.

The thumbnail works in tandem with the video’s title.

‘Standing out’ are often as simple as picking a bright colour. Or ensuring your giant hi-res face is making a weird expression in good lighting. But it’s just as likely that your niche is full of shrill, high-key visuals, and the best way your channel can stand out is by being the calm, minimalist voice of reason.

Alternately, you'll always nix the assembly values and choose fully authentic no-filter vibes. It doesn’t hurt Joana Ceddia’s view counts.

6. Multiply your views by creating playlists

Editing and creating a video playlist on YouTube is the best way to reduce the likelihood that the viewer will move to another channel once your content is finished.

Why? Because playlists enforce Netflix rules: as soon as one video ends, the next one starts.

Since you've already done the hard work of helping your viewers find your video, click on it, and watch the whole thing, it makes sense to lead them to the content they'll be looking for next. (And, all of a sudden, before they know it, they're hosting the entire first season of Just for Baths.)

7. Administer your video stream using cards and storage screens

Aside from playlists, cards and storage screens are just two of the tools YouTubers can use to get through the algorithm and directly influence the next choice of our audience.

Cards can be clicked, interactive locations that appear during the video. They are voters, but in this case we have a desire to expand the views, so choose a card that links to one of your videos (or better yet, a playlist).

Cards are puppets, so it's very important that they add value. You don't want viewers to feel spam. The videos or playlists you link need to be active right now, and provide more information or entertainment.

Pro Tip: If you have a problem with virtual storage with a large audience retreat somewhere in one of your videos, try installing a link card right away. Instead of letting your viewers go and look at Twitter, you have a better chance of persuading them to watch one of your videos.

Check out the benefits of YouTube (such as home,

In the meantime, the final screens are a visual call to action that you can add to the end of your video to encourage viewers to move to the next step. They are important because you know if someone has reached the painful end of your video, they may be interested in your content.

Use terminal screens to encourage viewers to subscribe to your channel or visit your website are two great things. But if you want more views, use your last screen to promote some of your videos. (Note that to use the final screens, you'll need to add a few extra seconds to the end of your video when editing it.)

For example, Saturday Night Live goes all hog and offers four opportunities on their final screens: they encourage people to sign up; to their website; and instead of relying on an algorithm, they chose their suggested videos.

Pro Tip: Suggest a playlist on your last screen, there's one video, and see how long you can keep the viewer on your channel.

8. Go beyond video to be made (e.g., make videos nobody else)

Chances are, as you research your keywords (as we did back in point # 3), you'll see a lot of search terms including the phrase "how." (This article is included, ahem.) This is because there is a huge amount of video search volume to do.

But while it is important that you work to attract a new eye, you also want to make time to preach to the converted. On YouTube, your brand's product features come in a variety of meaningful content to your already followers.

As evidence of how videos are not the solution, check out Converse's YouTube channels. None of the videos in the series are organized - as fun and useful as they are - that affect the five-digit count

At the time, 1M people were listening to Idris Elba say anything for 60 seconds (while wearing Converse, of course).

The lesson for us? Become Idris Elba. And if you're not Idris Elba, then don't be afraid to opt out of the "5 most engaging and popular" types that everyone.

9. Build relationships with your viewers

According to YouTube, engagement is increasing. Between 2017 and 2018, 70% of additional YouTube users say they follow YouTube's creator and interact with their channel every day.
Audience engagement is just another term to build relationships. The goal here is, in fact, simply a logical, effective, and sustainable way to get more YouTube views.

That is, engaging with other YouTubers (creators or commentators of both) will increase the likelihood that they will care about your brand, that they will subscribe to your channel (see # 12), and watch more of your videos.

Ways to break the fourth wall, and make two-way discussions include:

Reply to comments (it's an honor!)

Run a YouTube contest

Make response videos

Put other people's content into your videos (with their permission)

For example, YouTuber Dave Cad, in his quest to learn Finnish, had traditional Snapchat speakers give him videos on how to pronounce Finnish-language twins.

Pro Tip: this is often a tutorial on the way to engage your community on YouTube using Hootsuite comments and sharing features which will prevent time as you build your audience.

10. Partner

Crossovers, guest appearances, mash-ups, cover: people love that jolt of anonymous familiarity. Find He-Man in your She-Ra product; and Billy Ray Cyrus on your Lil Nas X.

Bonus: Download a free guide detailing the exact steps one artist has taken to get over 23,000,000 views on YouTube with no budget and no expensive gear.

Maybe you're a budget-conscious brand, and hiring a founder next door is an old hat. Yet the results continue to be exciting. Like when Brita (a water filtration company) hires a powerful king Bach and gives her creative freedom to do whatever she wants. (And apparently the budget to hire Stephen Curry.) What was the result? Medium music, great entertainment, 3.6M views and ratings.

But if you're a composer or just want to promote yourself, getting more views is your first step toward monetization on YouTube, not using it. If your best bet is to work with like-minded creators.

Ideally, your potential collaborators are ideally integrated into price, popularity, and charm. And you actually love them. And have fun together, and it shows, and it makes people happy to see you happy, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Easy, right?

Pro Tip: If you make a caucus that includes a bunch of different videos - like a partner's perspective to survive on their channel, and you're the one to make it your own, and maybe get out some stuff, whatever layer is needed, etc. a playlist to put them together so that interested viewers can rate it all.

11. Promote your YouTube videos to all your social media channels

You will want to grow your entire social media presence that can promote your YouTube channel.

If you would like more YouTube views, please don't do the following:

A: Go to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and post a text or picture that links to your YouTube video

B: Put your entire video on those platforms

Option A: Connecting to YouTube makes sense, but the problem is that social platforms want to keep people on their platform (as YouTube does). Therefore their algorithms will not promote text posts only through an off-platform link. In other words, impressions and CTR will be lower, and therefore your YouTube views

Option B: This is what Facebook, Instagram and Twitter want to do. Posting your complete video will likely earn you positive engagement and reach across those platforms. But watching Facebook videos is not about making money, is it? And they won't give you YouTube views.

So, if you would like more YouTube views, promote your video by:

Post a short tire video to your social accounts as a traditional video and add the link to the full video back to YouTube.

Pro Tip: Short of hiring an assistant to manage your social media, a editing tool such as * cough * Hootsuite is the best way to get hands-on and edit those reports for yourowers.

12. Ask your viewers to subscribe your channel

Your subscription count describes your organic reach on YouTube. The more subscribers your channel has, the more views of your videos will go out once you start publishing.

Especially if those subscribers have their notifications turned on.

Growing your subscriber base is a challenge and a tactic, but one that is linked to broadening your focus.

Grow your YouTube audience faster with Hootsuite. It's easy to manage and edit YouTube videos and publish your videos on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter all at once. Try it free today.
Editing and creating a video playlist on YouTube is the best way to reduce the likelihood of a viewer moving to another channel once your content is complete.

Why? Because a playlist uses the rules of Netflix: as soon as one, the next, the next video starts.

Since you've already done the hard work of helping your viewers find your video, click on it, and watch the whole thing, it makes sense to lead to the content they'll be looking for next. (And, all of a sudden, before they know it, catch the entire first season of Bath for Baths.)
